Research Support


GW Confucius Institute Research Funding program is aimed to support university faculty who are conducting research and engaged in educational activities on China.  The research proposals are considered and selected by a peer-review committee composed of GW faculty members and, ultimately, by the CCAS Dean. Research results may be disseminated without limitation.


Currently Accepting Proposals for the 2020 Funding Cycle

Specific activities that are eligible for support include but are not limited to:

  • Faculty travel to China to conduct research

  • Faculty travel to participate in conferences/workshops outside of China

  • Curriculum development for new courses related to China (Flat Comp Rate $2,000 per Course)

  • Hosting speakers and other China-related educational events on GW’s campus


  • Regular full-time faculty in the humanities and social sciences
  • Specialized full-time faculty in the humanities and social sciences who do not have substantial outside funding to support their activities
