Looking back at the History and Peering ahead to Future: Trends & Opportunities in Speech-language Pathology and Audiology in China with Dr. Lucy Liu

The GW Department of Speech & Hearing Science and the GW Confucius Institute hosted Dr. Lucy Xueman Liu, co-founder of the China Consortium for Communication Health (CCCH). Dr. Liu discussed the history and outlook of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology in China. Over 50 participants from the greater DC communitiy attended this event.

Dr. Liu is certified both as a speech-language pathologist and an audiologist by the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA). She is president of Bethel Hearing and Speaking Training Center Inc. and is an adjunct assistant profes- sor at the University of Texas at Dallas. She is also a fellow and a committee member of the International Committee at the American Academy of Audiology (AAA). She serves as a consultant for major hospitals and rehabilitation centers in China including the Tongren Hospital, China Rehabilitation and Research Center for Deaf Children (CRRCDC), and the China Rehabilitation and Research Center (CRRC).

The China Consortium for Communication Health (CCCH) is affiliated with American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CAPCSD). The mission of CCCH is to facilitate the development of education, research, and services for individuals with communication disorders in China.
