The George Washington University Confucius Institute was pleased to be invited to Hardy Middle School in celebration of the Chinese Lunar New Year. Students from various grades-levels warmly welcomed staff and enjoyed a fun cultural activity.
This year's cultural activity was Chinese paper-cutting, which attracted many students. Everyone learned about Lunar New Year traditions and the history of Chinese paper-cutting.
Hardy Middle School's Confucius Classroom was established in 2016. It hopes to increase opportunities for local school children to learn about Chinese language and Chinese culture. The George Washington University Confucius Institute has endeavored to provide fun cultural experiences introducing Chinese art - such as Chinese calligraphy, paper-cutting or lantern-making. This event was thoroughly enjoyed by the Hardy Middle School students, and we look forward to joining them next year for the year of the Ox.
