Chinese Corner Special Series | Hanfu Workshop 3.4.2020

This Chinese corner was hosted in association with Fuyao Hanfu Association 扶摇汉服社! Participants learned about the history of Chinese traditional dress - Hanfu - and got the chance to try on outfits with the guidance of Hanfu experts! This Hanfu Workshop was be the first of GWCI's new special series of Chinese Conversation Corners, where workshops on Chinese culture will be hosted in addition to Chinese language speaking practice.

GCC Dumpling Night 2020

On Friday February 7th, The George Washington Confucius Institute was proud to partner with Global China Connection once again for this fun-filled Dumpling Night event. The GW Confucius Institute was packed with students who came to celebrate the Lantern Festival (元宵节) with delicious food and fun activities. The focus of Dumpling Night and the mission of the Global China Connection is to share and promote Chinese culture amongst the George Washington University community. Although food is a major part of Chinese culture, especially during the Lunar New Year festivities, we also created a learning experience for those in attendance with traditional musical performances, board games, dumpling making workshops, and calligraphy.

DC International School Visit - Lunar New Year 2020

Smithsonian American Art Museum Chinese New Year Family Celebration 2020

Attendees joined SAAM to celebrate the 2020 Lunar New Year! Everyone helped ring in the year of the rat with fun craft activities, traditional performances, artists, and demonstrations.

Hardy Middle School Lunar New Year Celebration 2020

The George Washington University Confucius Institute was pleased to be invited to Hardy Middle School in celebration of the Chinese Lunar New Year. Students from various grades-levels warmly welcomed staff and enjoyed a fun cultural activity. This year's cultural activity was paper-cutting, which attracted many students. Everyone learned about Lunar New Year traditions and the history of Chinese paper-cutting.
