Inclement Weather

During adverse weather or other emergencies, the GW Confucius Institute will close if the George Washington University closes. Please view the George Washington University Campus Advisories website or follow the GWU twitter account to get the most up-to-date information on emergency closings.

Classes which are cancelled due to poor weather will be rescheduled. If a student is unable to attend the rescheduled class session, he/she will not receive a refund nor will we schedule an alternative make-up session.

Group Course Absences

We understand that things occasionally come up that might prevent you from making the class(es) each week. Therefore, to help students overcome the gap, we will allow two free one-hour make-up classes per semester. Students will have the flexibility to take the make-up classes based on their and the instructor's availability, in person or via skype. An instructor of another class might substitute when necessary.

One-on-One Instruction

Students are required to give 24 hours notice for any cancellations. If 24 hour notice is not given, the missed session will not be rescheduled nor will a refund be issued.

All requests to reschedule a session must be received in writing via email to both the tutor and the GWCI office ([email protected]). Students can reschedule new sessions with at least 48 hours notice prior to the new meeting time. Rescheduling is dependent upon instructor or tutor availability, which cannot be guaranteed.

Class time will not be extended for students who arrive late without giving 24 hours prior notice. Refunds will not be issued for missed time. Missed time will not be added to future sessions.
