2017 GW Confucius Institute Summer Tour of China

For the purpose of promoting the learning of Chinese language and culture, the George Washington University Confucius institute is honored to announce that the program will sponsor a group of students from the GW Confucius Institute as well as students from the university to take a tour in China during the summer of 2017. The dates are tentatively set for the period of May 24 - June 7*. The GW Confucius Institute’s partner institution in China, Nanjing University, will be hosting the tour. The tour will visit historically and culturally significant locations in Nanjing, Beijing and Xi'An. During the trip, participants will have the opportunity to experience many aspects of culture firsthand.

Eligibility Requirements
  • At least 18 years old
  • Current GW Confucius Institute Student or Current George Washington University Student
  • PRC Passport Holders Will Not Be Considered
  • Priority Given to First-Time Participants
Important Dates*
  • Registration Opens: February 21
  • Registration Closes: March 17
  • Acceptance Announcement: March 24
  • Participants Submit Flight Info by: April 21**
  • Orientation: Week of April 25
  • Tentative Trip Dates: May 24 - June 7
**Participants who do not confirm airfare by April 21 may be dropped from the tour. The deadline is set in order for us to prepare all in country lodging, train tickets, site passes and so on. Call the GWCI office (202-994-2109) if you are unable to meet the deadline. 


In-country expenses will be funded by the Confucius Institute Headquarters, including local transportation, lodging, tour guides, admission fees and most meals.
Students will be responsible for health-insurance coverage, international airfare and visa expenses.  The estimated expenses for students are listed below.
