2016 Staff Holiday Luncheon

The George Washington University Confucius Institute’s staff, language instructors, student tutors and ambassadors gathered together on December 20 to celebrate the end of 2016 and the many accomplishments of our collective efforts to promote Chinese language and culture in the Washington DC Metro Area.

Mingling at the prestigious DACOR Bacon House located two blocks away from the White House, GWCI members discussed their favorite memories over the year, plans for winter vacation, and the addition of new staff at the Institute. In particular, GWCI celebrated the many contributions made by Dr. Yuling Wang, the first GWCI instructor, who will be returning to her home in China after years of hard work and excellent teaching at the Institute.

The holiday luncheon was critical in bringing together familiar faces and new ones, as well as supporters of the Confucius Institute. By the end of the lunch, staff and instructors developed a stronger sense of community and togetherness that will guide the Institute throughout 2017.
