1 Year Anniversary - Lunch Reception

On September 25th, 2014 the George Washington University Confucius Institute hosted a lunch reception to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the GW Confucius Institute and the tenth anniversary of founding the very first Confucius Institute globally. This event was part of the global celebration that took place simultaneously in all five continents. 

President Knapp, Vice President for Research Chalupa, Dean Vinson of CCAS, Vice President Cheng Chongqing of NJU, Dean Cheng of Institute for International Student at NJU, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs and Public Diplomacy Ms. Morris, and representatives from the Chinese Embassy in the United States were invited as VIPs to the celebration. President Knapp, VP Cheng, Ms. Morris and Ms. Zhou of the Chinese Embassy each gave their remarks and best wishes for the GW Confucius Institute. Eric Baker, the emcee of this event, is a student of the GW Confucius Institute. He introduced himself in fluent Chinese and was able to share his Chinese learning experience at the GWCI. Faculty, students, and friends of the GW Confucius Institute also attend the reception.
